Ride with Candidates: Chris Martin, Mayor – Wellesley Township
For the 2026 municipal elections, CycleWR volunteers have been taking municipal electoral candidates on bike rides to show off the best and worst of the cycling infrastructure in their ward/city/region.
Below is a summary written by Rhiannon Davies, on their phone call with municipal candidate for Wellesley Mayor, Chris Martin.

Our schedules did not allow for Chris Martin and I to find a time to ride but we did have a telephone conversation about cycling.
Our conversation centred around the Guelph to Goderich Trailway and the proposed bridge across the Grand at Wallenstein. Chris was very supportive of the project. As I am a volunteer with the G2G and Kissing Bridge Trail we discussed issues concerning the trail, particularly the cost of maintenance and vandalism that occurs.
Chris is a road cyclist. We spoke about having adequate shoulders on rural roads for safety.
We also touched on the need to regulate e bikes, particularly on trails where speed can result in serious accidents.
