New Dedicated Cross Rides Along Weber

Posted on September 3, 2023September 10, 2023 by Patrick Bergsma

Welcome to a new and soon to be ongoing series called, “What’s New in Waterloo”. The purpose of this new series is to highlight the ever growing and improve active transportation network in the region. These blogs will include a video of the route and a few photos to highlight sections of the route.

To start, let’s look at the new “cross rides” installed along the shared path from the downtown cycling grid, along Weber to Spur Line Trail.

This is great enhancement that make it legal for cyclists to ride their bike through intersection from the shared path. It’s also good to see that the Wellington/Weber crossing is set back enough to allow vehicle to pull off Weber but able to yield to cyclists and pedestrians in their respective location.

We hope to see more improvements like these along sections of multi-use trail crossings and at protected intersections so people can predictably and safely cross intersections whether they are driving an automobile, riding a bike, scooting around on a scooter, walking, or jogging.

Improvements like these will continue to lead to safer streets for all people!

See the improvements for yourself below!
