School starts on September 8 and parents are wondering how to get students into classes without exposure to the virus on buses while also avoiding the chaos and congestion of school drop-off zones. To support families, CycleWR is joining forces with other community organizations to help plan, practice, and encourage active trips to school.
Panel discussion August 19
We’re kicking things off with a virtual panel presentation and discussion for parents to address their questions and concerns and review the benefits and logistics of active travel.
Tune in on Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30 pm on the CycleWR Facebook page for a conversation moderated by Matt Rodrigues of CycleWR. Confirmed panelists include:
- Dorothy McCabe, Tessa Jagiellowicz, and Zoe McCabe – a family of active school commuters
- Scott Weldon – a teacher in Waterloo Region and parent of young children
- Julie Wright – a Waterloo Region parent with the Walking School Bus program
- Leslie Maxwell – a School Travel Planner with Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region whose children graduated from Waterloo schools in the recent past.
More to come
From August to October, we’ll offer families custom route planning assistance, an interactive online Q&A forum, practical outdoor (and socially-distant) workshops, videos, and games.
