Saturday, March 23 is National Bike Store Day, an annual event to celebrate the culture of the independently owned bicycle store! Here’s what our local bike shops are doing for Bike Store Day – or this spring in general.

Cambridge

Ciclowerks is offering no tax on all in-store purchases.

3SIXTY5 Cycling is offering no tax on 3SIXTY5 Carbon wheels with the online promo code “BikeStoreDay19.”

Other independent bike shops in Cambridge are The Hub and Grand River Cycle.

Kitchener

Ziggy’s has two events coming up this month: Bikes, Beer & Gear on March 20, and a women’s event on nutrition and cycling on the 28th (more details here). Also check out their trade-up kids bike program!

Recycle Cycles‘ Women, Trans, and Non-binary Folks Bike Nights are starting up again soon – and they’ve always got great deals!

East Side Cycle is having a spring sale right now, with 2018 and older models 10–35% off.

Also in Kitchener and deserving of your love and attention: Black Arrow Cycles!

Waterloo

King St. Cycles is having in-store draws, and if you bike there you get a free gift!

McPhails is having a sale March 21-24, including last-season clearance items.

Waterloo Bike Shop is having their grand opening on Bike Store Day, after opening up shop late last summer.

Let us know if you visit any of these shops by tagging @Cycle_WR on Twitter or Instagram – and look for our posters and cards promoting the #HumansWhoCycleWR campaign, which you can participate in right here.

Cycling Risk SurveyCycleWR is keenly interested Cycling Risk SurveyCycleWR is keenly interested to learn more about how people in our community view cycling infrastructure. We have created a survey that delves into how people perceive the many infrastructure options that we find in Waterloo Region. We know that there is a lot of diversity in the comfort levels that people experience while cycling. We want to know: Will you only ride on trails and physically separated facilities? Which street designs do you find safest? How do you feel about one-way versus two-way cycle tracks? Which cycling facilities do you prefer to see when you are driving a car? We ask all these questions and more. This survey will inform our advocacy and the results will be shared both publicly and with municipal staff who are designing new facilities. The survey is quite detailed, so you’ll want to set aside 10-15 minutes to complete it. Please share it widely – we want to reach many people with varying levels of experience, from non-cyclists and beginners to daily riders.Start the survey now - the link is our bio (https://forms.gle/RLASz6joa27NUX8T7)Please respond by March 21st.Thank you!
