In our two-tier municipal system, it’s hard to keep track of all the budgets and projects for all eight municipalities. We’d love some help keeping track of what’s going on at the Region, the three cities, and the four townships.
Duties and responsibilities
Essentially we need someone to set up email updates or monthly-ish reminders to check agendas as they’re posted – if there are any bike- or pedestrian-related items, summarize them and send to our steering committee so we can tweet about it or see if a greater response is needed. You don’t need to live in any particular municipality to sign up!
To get you started, here are the sites where each of the region’s meeting minutes are posted:
- North Dumfries
- Region of Waterloo (Particularly Planning & Works, Active Transportation Advisory Committee – can subscribe to receive email updates; also future construction projects)
You could also keep tabs on EngageWR to see if there are any new surveys that people who bike should be responding to.
Depending how heavy a given agenda is, and how thorough you want to be, it could take 30 minutes to several hours per week. If you aren’t able to get through an agenda one week, we’d appreciate advanced notice so we can get someone else to help. Having multiple people on this team will help split up the work!
Steering committee contact
Municipality agenda trackers will work with steering committee member Emily Slofstra.
