Position description
Events Volunteers assist CycleWR by being a welcoming presence at the CycleWR table/booth at indoor and outdoor community events. Events Volunteers engage the public in conversation around CycleWR’s goals and campaigns.
Duties and responsibilities
- Setting up and tearing down booths (our booth materials include a table cloth, page holders, business cards, email sign up list, pens, stickers)
- Greeting table/booth visitors and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment
Engaging members of the public in conversation around CycleWR’s goals and campaigns - Taking photos for our #HumansWhoCycleWR campaign
- Working as a team with the CycleWR Steering Committee and other volunteers
- If necessary, being responsible for the donation box and ensuring that the box and any monies collected at events are handed over to a CycleWR Steering Committee member
- If necessary, arrange to pick up/drop off booth materials from/to a CycleWR Steering Committee member
Time commitment
- Attend one Events Volunteer orientation training session: one hour, once
- Event days: when available, flexible timing (expect one to three hours)
Skills and qualifications
- Good individual and group communication skills
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
- Ability to relate to people of all ages and abilities
- Reliability
- Ability to tolerate inclement weather including humidity, heat, rain, cold, and noise
- 18 years of age or older, exceptions can be made for minors who will be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is 18 years of age or older
